Description
Gastec detector tube No. 70 measures mercaptans (RSH) in air from 0.5 to 120 ppm. Break both tips off the tube, fit it to a Gastec GV-100 or GV-110 hand pump and draw the number of pump strokes listed for the expected range. The reagent changes from white to yellow, and the stain shows the gas concentration. Read the concentration directly on the scale printed on the tube. 10 tubes per box give 10 tests.
Mercaptans are the odorants added to natural gas and LP gas, and they are also released in refining and sour gas processing. A tube gives a spot reading and does not replace a certified gas monitor where your site procedure requires one. Use only Gastec tubes with a Gastec pump, break the tips away from your eyes, and never handle broken glass or reagent with bare hands.
