Description
Loctite 574 is an orange, thixotropic anaerobic paste used as a form-in-place gasket between rigid, close-fitting metal flanges. Because it stays put after it is applied, it is easy to run as a bead on gearbox housings, engine casings, pump covers and similar machined joints, where it cures in the absence of air and resists low pressure right after assembly. It fills gaps up to 0.25 mm, and the cured joint tolerates engine oil and water-glycol coolant.
The Safety Data Sheet (Henkel Canada, WHMIS 2015) classifies the product as a skin irritant (Category 2), serious eye irritant (Category 2A), skin sensitizer (Category 1) and suspected carcinogen (Category 2), signal word Warning. Wear protective gloves, clothing and eye and face protection, avoid breathing mist or vapours and read the SDS before use. Not for pure oxygen systems or chlorine service. Sold per 250 mL tube.
