Description
The MSA ALTAIR 2X is a compact, single-gas portable detector with an electrochemical sensor for sulfur dioxide (SO2). It shows the reading on a large display and warns the wearer with bright LEDs, a loud audible alarm (95 dB typical at 30 cm) and a vibrating alarm. This version is factory set with a low alarm at 2 ppm and a high alarm at 5 ppm, and it reads 0–20.0 ppm.
Sulfur dioxide is released when sulfur-bearing fuels and gases are burned, for example at flare stacks, boilers and engine exhaust. The detector only detects the gas for which its sensor is installed. Check it with a bump test or calibrate it as the manual describes before use, and follow your site procedure for gas testing.
