Description
The MSA ALTAIR 2X is a compact, single-gas portable detector with an electrochemical sensor for low-concentration hydrogen sulfide (H2S-LC). It shows the reading on a large display and warns the wearer with bright LEDs, a loud audible alarm (95 dB typical at 30 cm) and a vibrating alarm. This version is factory set with a low alarm at 5 ppm and a high alarm at 10 ppm, and it reads 0–100.0 ppm.
Hydrogen sulfide is found around oil and gas wells, sour gas lines, sewers, ballast and bilge tanks and other confined spaces. The detector only detects the gas for which its sensor is installed. Check it with a bump test or calibrate it as the manual describes before use, and follow your site procedure for gas testing.
