Description
Scotch 2242 is a black, self-bonding rubber splicing tape based on ethylene propylene rubber, supplied without a liner. Wrapped in half-lapped layers over wire and cable splices, terminations, motor leads and bus bar, it builds up an insulating, moisture-sealing layer. Electricians, utility crews and maintenance teams also use it to repair cable jackets. This roll measures 3/4 in x 15 ft at 30 mil thick.
The data sheet rates the tape for wire and cable operating up to 90 °C (194 °F). Check that this rating and the voltage class suit your splice before use, and apply it on de-energized conductors. For best results, stretch the tape as it is wound so the layers fuse together. Sold per roll.
