Description

Gastec detector tube No. 100A measures LP gas (propane and butane, C3–C4 hydrocarbons) in air from 0.02 to 0.8 %. Break both tips off the tube, fit it to a Gastec GV-100 or GV-110 hand pump and draw the number of pump strokes listed for the expected range. The reagent changes from yellowish brown to greenish brown, and the stain shows the gas concentration. Read the concentration directly on the scale printed on the tube. 10 tubes per box give 10 tests.

LP gas leaks can collect in low spots, engine rooms, galleys and storage areas, so a spot check is useful after a suspected leak. A tube gives a spot reading and does not replace a certified gas monitor where your site procedure requires one. Use only Gastec tubes with a Gastec pump, break the tips away from your eyes, and never handle broken glass or reagent with bare hands.
