Description
The J-B Weld 31314 is a red RTV (room temperature vulcanizing) silicone gasket maker and sealant in a 3 oz (85 g) tube, sold one tube at a time. According to J-B Weld, it is a silicone gasketing material designed for mechanical assemblies where continuous temperatures up to 550 °F (288 °C, converted) or 650 °F (343 °C, converted) intermittent may be present.
Per J-B Weld, it cures with moisture from the air and forms a waterproof seal on most surfaces, with a set time of 1 hour and a full cure in 24 hours; the manufacturer lists it as oil resistant and water resistant. Follow the manufacturer directions: clean and dry the surface, apply a continuous 1/4 in bead around the bolt holes, assemble while the silicone is wet and hand tighten.
