Description
Permatex Anaerobic Flange Sealant is a purple gel that forms a flexible gasket between rigid, machined metal flanges where the gap is under 0.015 in. It cures only when air is excluded, so it stays workable in the cartridge and hardens once the flanges are bolted together. Mechanics and plant maintenance crews use it on water pumps, thermostat housings, transmission pans, timing covers and other cases where an anaerobic gasket is specified, in place of paper, rubber or cork gaskets.
The Safety Data Sheet (ITW Permatex, revision of May 7, 2020) classifies the product as harmful if inhaled (Category 4), causing severe skin burns and eye damage (skin corrosion Category 1B, eye damage Category 1), a skin sensitizer (Category 1), possibly carcinogenic (Category 1B) and a repeated-exposure organ toxicant (Category 2); signal word Danger. Wear protective gloves and eye protection, work in a well-ventilated area and read the SDS before use. Sold per 300 mL cartridge.
