Proto J7318M 1/2 in Drive 18 mm 6-Point Deep Impact Socket

The Proto J7318M is a 1/2 in drive, 18 mm 6-point deep impact socket. According to the manufacturer, 6-point sockets are suited to stubborn or damaged fasteners and to fasteners made of soft materials.

Per the manufacturer, the TorquePlus design engages the fastener flats rather than the corners, using a radius-corner design that spreads contact stress over a large area of the socket and minimizes slippage. The internal design is said to minimize fastener rounding and to make it easier to turn worn, rounded or rusted fasteners. The socket size is stamped on the tool, and the socket has a side locking hole. Sold as a single socket.
