Description
The Starrett 579C is a telescoping gage with a range of 3/4 to 1-1/4 in (19 to 32 mm) and a 2-3/8 in (60 mm) handle. Per the manufacturer, the Starrett 579 telescoping gage is used to determine the true size of holes, slots and recesses up to 6 in (150 mm).
The manufacturer states that the ends of both contacts are hardened and ground to a radius, allowing proper clearance in the smallest hole the gage will enter. The gage is rocked slightly in the hole, then locked and withdrawn, and the final hole size is obtained by measuring over the gage contacts with a micrometer (not included). Sold as a single gage.
